BJP membership drive on in full swing

Imphal, February 01 2015: A mega membership campaign of BJP State unit was launched today at the Waiton Awang Leikai residence of vice-president I Mangiton under the aegis of the BJP Khundrakpam Mandal.

Speaking at the gathering, former BJP State unit president and ex-MLA M Bhorot claimed that the BJP Government at the Centre is deadly opposed to all kinds of corrupt practices and is fully committed to total transparency as far as public administration is concerned.

Many Ministers of the preceding UPA Government have been booked and imprisoned for their direct involvement in many scandals.

When the Congress party was in power before the NDA Government led by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee came to power, inflation was so high and the whole country languished in a precarious condition because the economy was in a very bad shape, Bhorot asserted.

After the BJP Government led by Vajpayee came to power, inflation was effectively put under check and the country's economy started growing steadily.

It was during the time of Vajpayee that India successfully conducted two nuclear tests and put the country among the elite nuclear powers of the world.

It was again the Vajpayee Government which introduced PMGSY with the primary objective of economic alleviation of the rural poor.

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan as well as Mid-Day Meal Scheme were also launched during his period.

Following the footsteps of Vajpayee, incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Jan Dan Yojana for economic upliftment of the country's impoverished sections.

Bhorot then appealed to all the electorate of Manipur to enrol themselves in BJP so that a BJP Government can be established in the State.

I Mangiton said that they have set a target of enrolling not less than 15,000 electorate of Khundrakpam A/C within the mega membership campaign.

So far, 2500 people residing under 35 different polling stations of Khundrakpam A/C have enrolled in BJP online.

He went on to claim that they have started due preparations for the 2017 Assembly elections with a view to set up a BJP Government which would include a BJP MLA from Khundrakpam A/C.
