RIMS organises dental camp at relief camp

Imphal, July 29 2024:
A dental camp was organised at the Recent Higher Secondary School, Sagoltongba relief camp by RIMS Dental College Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry on Sunday in collaboration with Education Department's Zonal Education Office Zone-I, Heritage Foundation of Mankind, Sangaiprou and Eta: Northeast Women's Network Group.
In a release, RIMS PRO N Phillip Singh informed that the camp included an awareness programme about oral health under Nanhi-Muskan (Little Smile) Project/Swachhta Action Plan 2024-2025 of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preven tive Dentistry (ISPPD) and lecture on oral health and hygiene.
As a part of the camp, drawing and colouring classes, as well as art and craft demonstration were conducted for children while tooth brushes, tooth pastes and stationery items were distributed to children resident of the relief camp along with demonstration on proper brushing techniques.
Pledges were also taken by the internally displaced persons to take care of oral health and adopt healthy diet with a healthy life style.
The release further informed that 234 children and adults were examined during the camp and various treatments including extractions, restorations and oral prophylaxis were done.
Specialist doctors from the departments of Medicine and ENT, ophthalmologist, refr'actionists and paediatrician also provided treatment during the camp, it mentioned.
The camp was attended by Department of Art and Culture retired director Dr K Sobita Devi, Thamchet High School primary teachers La-bee Thoidingjam, Dijendra Laishram and Chingkhiulan Riamei, Manipur State Museum painter (visual artist) Imo Nameirakpam, doctors and staff of RIMS, Imphal.
