HD Foundation hosts free eye camp for PwDs

Handicapped Development (HD) Foundation, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Imphal Excellence, Shija Eye Care Foundation, and Red Cross Imphal West, organised a one-day free eye camp at Lamdeng Mayai Leikai, offering essential eye care services to over 100 People with Disabilities (PwDs), The camp provided comprehensive screenings for conditions such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, childhood eye defects, and corneal issues, among others.
Experienced ophthalmologists from the institution's organisations conducted exams and offered consultations to attendees.
Lions Club of Imphal Excellence president Sapam Anand emphasised the need for regular eye examinations, stating, "Early detection of eye problems is crucial" in preventing vision loss.
We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the community and raise awareness about eye health" .
For many participants, the camp was a rare opportunity to access professional eye care services.
One of the attendees expressed their gratitude, saying, "This camp has been a blessing for us.
We often struggle to afford medical care, and today we received excellent attention and support" .
In addition to addressing immediate eye health needs, the event aimed to educate attendees on the importance of maintaining proper eye care practices underscoring that awareness and early intervention are key, particularly for individuals at high risk of serious eye conditions.
HD Foundation and its partners plan to continue organising such initiatives to reach more underserved populations across Imphal West.
