NIELIT Senapati EC holds inter-school painting contest

NIELIT Senapati Extension Centre organised an inter-school painting competition under the theme "Information Technology in Pollution Control" at its office building, with participation from students of various schools.
The inaugural session was attended by Raishe PA, director (Evaluation & Monitoring), North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, as the chief guest, and PL Rongmei, principal technical officer (PTO), NIELIT Imphal, as the functional president.
Speaking at the event, Raishe PA explained that pollution refers to harmful substances introduced into nature, adversely affecting health and the environment.

He also cited examples such as water pollution (making water unsafe to drink), air pollution (caused by industrial waste), and noise pollution, urging students to take action against such environmental hazards.
The chief guest encouraged students to avoid littering, spread awareness among peers, and strive to be agents of change in pollution control.
While winners would receive prizes, he motivated other participants not to be disheartened but to persevere in future endeavours.
Rita Kho, project associate, NIELIT Senapati, in her welcome note, stated that the event was organised to promote pollution control through information technology.
In his speech, PL Rongmei, principal technical officer (PTO), NIELIT highlighted that pollution affects not only the environment but also human life, emphasising that Information Technology can help spread awareness among people across different regions.
The competition was divided into two categories namely, Sub-Junior (Classes 3-5), and Junior (Classes 6-10).Around 200 students from various schools in the district participated, with free online registration available beforehand.
In the Junior category, Asavi T (Class 10, Lao Radiant School) won the first prize (Rs 5,000 + certificate), followed by YK Kabimajangpa (Class 10, St Anthony's School) in second place (Rs 3,000 + certificate), and Veitheo Pou (Class 9, Mave School) in third place (Rs 2,000 + certificate).
In the sub-junior category, Roziila Rong (Class 5, St Anthony's School) secured the first prize (Rs 5,000 + certificate), S Raihriina (Class 5, Bethany School) came second (Rs 3,000 + certificate), and Tsiiva Adore (Class 4, Don Bosco School) took third place (Rs 2,000 + certificate) .
