Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Thoubal and Churachandpur have been honoured with the 'Best KVK' (Manipur) and 'Best Performer' (Manipur) awards respectively forthe year 2024-25 at the ninth foundation day of ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone VII, held at ICAR-ATARI, Umiam, Meghalaya on Tuesday.
The Churachandpur KVK also bagged the 'Best Exhibition Stall Award' on the occasion while best innovative farmer award 'Krishi Gaurav' was presented to Thoubal JcVK's progressive farmer Akoijam Deben.
The awards were presented in the presence of Meghalaya agriculture & farmers' welfare minister Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh; Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), New Delhi assistant director general (ADG) Dr RR Burman, ICAR-ATARI, Zone VII director Dr AK Mohanty, heads of Regional Centres from NEH states, NABARD, Meghalaya GM, and other dignitaries.
The 'Best KVK Award' received by head & senior scientist Dr Jeshmarani Sarangthem recognises KVK, Thoubal's effort in providing location-specific, cutting-edge agricultural technologies, fostering farm innovations, and impactful extension services to the local farming community.
Ak Deben of Thoubal Wangmataba Sorok Mathak, was honoured for his innovation 'Furrow Maker Fitted to Power Tiller or Tractor' and proving himself as a role model among the farming community of the region through his remarkable achievement in sustainable farming.
Meanwhile, 'Best Performer Award (Manipur)' recognises KVK, Churachandpur's exemplary outreach, effective farmer mobilisation, and impactful dissemination of agricultural technologies that have significantly empowered farming communities in the district, during the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), a release by KVK, Churachandpur senior scientist-cum-head Dr Manoj Kumar, Pandey said.
It also-informed that KVK, Churachandpur played a key role in securing the 'Best Exhibition Stall Award (2024-25)' as part of the Manipur KVK team.
The award was presented for the stall's impressive, interactive, and informative display of agricultural technologies.
