Bishnupur, June 25 2024:
Terming the search operations being conducted by security forces as 'torture of civilians' and demanding measures to be taken up to ensure safe return of the internally displaced persons to their respective homes, CPI Bishnupur District Council organised a sit-in protest at Khwairakpan community hall on Tuesday.
The protest participated by meira paibis and members of the CPI Council, was marked by chanting slogans to demand immediate political solution to the present crisis , condemnation of brutal killing of innocent students, and prompt delivery of justice to the victims and their grieving families.
Among others, CPI Manipur assistant secretary M Joykumar, state control and commission member K Mohonchandra, state executive members S Nilakomol and M Sakhi also took part in the sit-in protest.
CPI former district secretary K Bimol cautioned that if the issues faced by the people of Manipur are not addressed and the displaced people staying in relief camps not guaranteed a safe return to their respective homes, then the public will resort to intense forms of agitation.
The state government should take immediate measures to bring an end to the crisis, he said.
