Khongnangthaba University eyes medical college

Khongnangthaba University vice-chancellor Prof N Joykumar has said that the private university is planning to establish a medical college in public-private partnership (PPP) model soon.
He made the announcement during the university's 4th foundation day celebration held at its temporary campus in Khurai, Imphal East district on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Joykumar informed that the university is planning for provide corporate education system apart from conventional education.
Such education system could be seen in different states and the university is targeting to widen its outreach in association with universities in other states, he added.

Announcing plan for a medical college, the vice-chancellor said that most of the process for establishing the medical college on PPP model has been completed.
It was delayed by the crisis in the state.
Considering the situation, the university is planning to set up the college by 2027, he said while informing that the university is giving more focus on para medical and AYUSH education.
Participating at the event virtually, Bathinda-based Central University of Punjab, pro vice-chancellor Prof Kiran Hazarika congratulated the university on its remarkable achievements in diverse academic fields within just four years.
He expressed hope that Khongnangthaba University would continue to attract students from across the region and neighbouring countries.
Head of St Mary's College of Pharmacy, Telangana, professor Dr G Mariappan discussed the latest trends and innovations in pharmacy education and research.
He praised Khongnangthaba University for its rigorous academic programmes in Pharmacy, role in shaping future pharmacists, and contributions to healthcare advancements in the Northeast region.
Professor Dr Nilimanka Das of Regional Institute of Pharmaceutical Science & Technology, Agartala explored the significance of pharmaceutical science in the broader context of public health and drug development.
The professor acknowledged the university's proactive approach in fostering a robust educational environment that encourages research and development, significantly contributing to the local and national pharmaceutical industry.
Dr Arindam Chaudhuri, a renowned agriculture scientist, highlighted the importance of agricultural science in ensuring food security and sustainable development.
He commended the University for making efforts in integrating agricultural education with practical applications and its initiatives in promoting sustainable agricultural practices among students and the local farming community.
Subir Ghosh, a member of the University's governing body, focused on the importance of governance in higher education.
He highlighted the effective governance structure of the University, which, according to him, enabled the University to emerge as a leading institution in the region.
He highlighted how the University's governance has positively influenced its growth and reputation.
In relation to its foundation day celebration, Khongnangthaba University also organised a one day free physiotherapy camp at the University campus conducted by Dr Sajal Sen (PT) from Kolkata, who specialises in orthopaedic physiotherapy.
Registrar of Khongnangthaba University, Dr Atom Sunil Singh, faculty members, students, and other staff of the University also attended the event.
