Meet advises MLA Nasir not to resign

A public meeting held at Lilong on Friday resolved that the time is not right for Lilong MLA Abdul Nasir to step down and that he should first consult the matter with the people of Lilong AC, in case situation merits resignation.
A press statement issued by the functional president of the meeting declared that the public resolved that the time is not right fpr the MLA to step down even though there is widespread demand for his resignation.
Consensus of the people of Lilong AC should be the basis for resignation, if ever required, maintained the statement.
It also informed that MLA Md Abdul Nasir had submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister seeking justice for the six hostage victims of Jiribam incident and actions against the perpetrators.
The meeting also demanded the 50 MLAs to take up necessary steps to resolve the crisis that the state has been facing for more than 18 inonths.
The meeting also strongly condemned abduction and murder of six civilians including three children and three women, in Jiribam and resolved to support public movement aimed at restoring peace and normalcy in the state.
