Imphal, November 21 2024:
Imagi Meira has called the attention of the people to the exigencies of bringing the 50 MLAs of the state - irrespective of ruling or opposition - to the Assembly, and pressing them to take a firm resolution to end the current conflict in the state.
Speaking at a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here Thursday, Imagi Meira convenor Th Sujata noted that the current situation is no longer one for the authorities to indulge in playing blame games.
"The MLAs and ministers do not belong only to their constituencies but to all the people of the state," she reminded and urged for pushing all the 50 MLAs to adopt a firm resolution in the Assembly to end the conflict and restore normalcy in the state.
While claiming that the ruling MLAs are bereft of unity and determination in resolving the conflict, Sujata remarked that the centre will always take advantage of such a weakness.
"If the leaders do well, the people will never be angry," she remarked and further observed that the government has been unable to figure out which resolution would be best for the state for the past 18 months.
"Both the ruling and opposition MLAs need to take a unanimous resolution in the Assembly," Sujata said, while adding that there is no need to go to Delhi and the PM will naturally need to listen to the resolution.
She continued that when the PM uttered a few words regarding the naked parading of two women, the MLAs took the matter seriously.
But when innocent women and children were being brutally murdered, they failed to react in the same manner, thereby inviting the anger of the people, reasoned the convenor.
She also demanded that no FIRs should be registered against the people, while calling for strict action against SSP S Nectar who behaved "ridiculously " amid the tragic situation in Jiribam.
