Imphal, October 21 2024:
A three-day free endocrine and diabetes outpatient department (OPD) camp commenced at the BABINA Hospital on Monday.
The camp is aimed at providing specialised medical services for those seeking evaluation and management of diabetes, thyroid disorders and related endocrine conditions.
In a statement, BABINA Hospital informed that diagnostic tests, including blood sugar levels, thyroid function, HbAlc (glycated haemoglobin) and Fibroscan, a non-invasive test to evaluate liver stiffness particularly relevant for those with diabetes or other metabolic concerns, were provided to patients on the first day of the camp.
Due to high demand, all 15 slots available per day have already been filled on a pre-booking basis, it informed.
The hospital relayed that considering the rising prevalence of diabetes and thyroid related issues, the camp is being conducted to provide early intervention and improve quality of life, and extend opportunity for local residents to get screened and receive expert advice.
Early detection and proper management are vital in preventing the complications that often arise from untreated endocrine disorders, the statement cautioned.
Further informing that the camp will run with limitations on number of patients each day to ensure personalised care, the Hospital appealed all concerned to stay informed about upcoming health initiatives and camps.
Locals, who missed the opportunity to register for the on-going camp may access information about upcoming camps and services through the hospital's website www.babinahospital.com, social media pages and helpline.
