Imphal, July 20 2024:
While pointing out that Kom tribe has been standing firm for integrity of Manipur, Kom Tribe Organisation Valley (KTOV) has categorically stated that 45 Kom villages under its jurisdiction are not related with some individuals who have joined hands with other community (Kuki) in demanding a separate administration to disrupt the integrity of Manipur.
In a release, KTOV information and publicity secretary K David Kom lamented that Kom people have been besmirched as some individuals are trying to make Kom tribe as a double-faced community.
COTU defence joint secretary S Kom is from Phailel Khul near Luwangsanggol in Kangpokpi while Kuki Army information secretary Thangson Karong is from Samulamlaan in Churachandpur.
Not only the aforementioned individuals, but every person who is involved in trying to disrupt the integrity of Manipur should be held responsible for all the consequences, he cautioned, while adding that such individuals will never be recognise as Kom and they should never misuse the name of the community.
While appealing to the state government to protect Kom community as they have been living in fear for a long period of time, he urged all to support Kom so that the community could live as 'Kom' peacefully.
