CCpur, February 20 2025:
In response to the alarming rise in road accident cases, primarily caused by drunk driving during the evening and night hours in and around Churachandpur town, the district police have intensified efforts to tackle the issue.
As part of their enforcement measures, authorities conducted surprise checks at multiple high-risk locations.
Speeding motorists were stopped and tested to determine whether they were under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances.
These measures have yielded positive results, leading to the arrest of reckless drivers.
Notably, over the past day, there has been a noticeable decline in the number of reported accidents.
Previously, incidents of road accidents, including fatalities, were reported almost every night, with some nights witnessing as many as four to five accidents across different locations.
On the other-hand, a team of Churachandpur Police conducted a raid on Wednesday at Hope Cafe, located in Mata Mualtam, Churachandpur, during which they recovered seven bottles of IMFL and 10 cans of beer.
Confirming the operation, Churachandpur SP Prakhar Pandey stated that four individuals found consuming liquor near the cafe were taken in for verification.
He noted that the cafe, permits alcohol consumption on its premises and has been linked to incidents of over-speeding on Khuga Road, leading to accidents.
The confiscated liquor was disposed of within the Churachandpur Police Station campus.
Meanwhile, the four detained individuals were released on a PR bond after receiving proper guidance and instructions to refrain from such activities in the future, the SP added.
