MU NSS team departs for NIC, Republic Day parade

Imphal, January 20 2025:
National Service Scheme (NSS) team from Manipur University, Canchipur, on Monday left Imphal to participate in the National Integration Camp (NIC) and the Republic Day Parade 2025 celebrations.
A press release was issued by the NSS Cell of Manipur University informed that the NIC, hosted by Assam Agricultural University in Jorhat, Assam, is scheduled from January 21 to 27.Organised by Assam Agricultural University, the camp aims to foster national unity, cultural diversity, and the spirit of service among youth.
Representing Manipur, the contingent comprises 10 NSS volunteers from Manipur University and its affiliated colleges, selected from various NSS units.
The team is led by MU department of dance and music assistant professor and NSS Unit-II program officer Dr M Macha Chaoreikanba as the designated team leader.
The NIC provides'a vital platform to nurture patriotism, social harmony, and inclusivity among the youth.
Through interactive programmes and activities, it celebrates India's cultural richness, instils national pride, and encourages youth to actively contribute to the nation's progress, it said.
In addition to the NIC delegation, a MYBharat NSS volunteers team from Manipur University also departed on Monday to participate as special guests at the Republic Day Parade 2025 in New Delhi on January 26.This initiative, spearheaded by MYBharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, empowers youths by addressing educational disparities, fostering social mobility, and equipping them with practical life skills.
MU vice-chancellor Prof N Lokendra Singh formally flagged off the teams from the university premises at 10:00 am.
He extended best wishes to the participants, encouraging them to uphold dedication and spirit of teamwork to make their participation impactful and meaningful.
"This representation of the state at two national events reflects the dynamic role of youth in shaping the country's future.
The efforts are led by NSS Cell programme coordinator Dr Laishram Santosh Singh, under the supervision of Prof N Lokendra Singh, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India,the statement informed.
