Speaker's Tribunal to hear MLA disqualification case today

Imphal, September 19 2024:
The Speaker's Tribunal will on Friday hear the disqualification cases against five JD (U) MLAs elected to the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly on.
A cause list of the same was notified by the Manipur Legislative Assembly secretary K Meghajit on Thursday.
Altogether the Tribual would be hearing seven cases, including (1 to 5) against MLAs Kh Joykisan, Ngursanglur Sanate, Md Asab Uddin, Thangjam Arunkumar and LM Khaute, petitioned by Hareshwar Goswami.
Advocate N Bhupenda Meitei is representing the petitioner, while senior advocate RS Reisang is representing the respondents.
Case nos 6 and 7 is being filed MLA Kh Joykisan and four other MLAs by M Dorendro Singh and M Surjit Singh, with the petitioners represented by advocate Ajoy Pebam.
It may be mentioned here that the JD (U) general secretary M Dorendro had filed a petition to the Manipur High Court against MLAs Joykisan, Ngursanglur, Asab Uddin, Arunkumar and LM Khaute after the MLAs declared they had joined the BJP.
As such, Manipur High Court Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul and Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu ordered the speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly on July 1 to dispose the disqualification cases at the earliest.
