A Training of Trainers (TOT) for volunteers on drug abuse and prevention was held as a part of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan campaign at New Incarnation IRCA, Kalinagar, on Sunday.
The function was attended by Jiribam ADC Th Manoranjan, NIC-IRCA, Jiribam project coordinator S Jiten and Borobekra SDC S Sitaranjan as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Delivering the presidential speech, S Jiten said that the TOT aims to create drug-free society under the initiative of the government of India.
He urged all participants to understand their roles and apply what they learn in their respective communities and homes.
He also said that while many conflicts can be resolved through dialogue or political talks, eradicating the malaise of drugs entails collective efforts.
Speaking as the chief guest, Th Manoranjan highlighted that, as a state near the Golden Triangle, drugs are easily available, in Manipur, which has severely impacted the state.
Noting that many youths have fallen victim to drug abuse, he stressed that time has come to take firm and decisive action in the fight against drugs.
