Imphal, August 18 2024:
Manipur Home Guard Employees' Welfare Association president Y Mangi has urged all home guards of Manipur to take part in the Association s complaint to the Supreme Court against pay reduction.
In a press meet held at the Association s Luwangsangbam office on Sunday, Mangi said that after the Supreme Court passed an order in 2015, the salary of home guards was raised on par with the pay of Manipur Police constable.
However, the Ministry of Home Affairs' Department of Internal Security filed a review petition against the order, based on which a letter was sent to the state's chief secretary to review the pay received by the home guards.
On April 28 this year, the Association held a general body meeting in this regard and decided to fight the review petition in SC.
However, around 200 home guards did not attend the meeting, he said, and sought the reason for the absence from the personnel.
In accordance with decision taken during the meeting, the Association is to file the plea, signed by all the home guards, to SC on August 26.As such, he urged the personnel to visit the Association's office within August 26.The Association will not bear any responsibility for any personnel whose signature was not included, with regard to any outcomes of the case, he cautioned, while urging all home guard personnel to cooperate in filing the case to SC .
