The Directorate of Health Services has issued a directive mandating all government and private hospitals, institutes, clinics, and diagnostic centres to report cancer cases under their treatment or investigation.
The report must be submitted in the specified format to the principal investigator of the Population-Based Cancer Registry (PBCR) at the department of pathology, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) with immediate effect.
The directive, signed by Health Services director Dr O Sanahanbi also stipulates that private health institutes, autonomous bodies, clinics, and NGOs planning to conduct cancer screening camps must adhere to standard guidelines, including those set by the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Stroke (NP-NCD).
Permission from the director of health services is now mandatory for such activities, it added.
