Govt to push for inclusion of Lai Haraoba

Imphal, January 15 2025: The state government on Wednesday constituted a Committee and held a meeting to push for the inclusion of Lai Haroaba in the cultural list of UNESCO and Sangeet Natak Akademi.

In a post on his social media account CM Biren Singh informed that a committee with him as the chairman was constituted to discuss the synopsis and other required steps needed for inclusion of Lai Haraoba in the cultural list.

The chief minister said that he would continue to work to preserve the customs and traditions of the states and ensure that the Lai Haraoba festival continues to progress in the future, while spreading awareness among the future generations of the same.

Mention may be made here that the government had been trying to include Lai Haraoba in the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity List of UNESCO since December 4, 2013.As per an announcement by the CM, the state government would be sending a proposal for the same.
