6th Meitei-Pangal Khunthok Ningsing Numit observed

The 6th Meitei Pangal Khuntok Ningsing Numit was held today at Haoreibi Makha Leikai High Madrassa organised by the Meitei Pangal Khunthok Ningsing Thouram Committee.
The event was attended by Meipak Ningthou Committee, convenor Alhaj Arshad Baseimayum, Manipur Power Department, Superintending Engineer Riyajuddin Khan, Meipak Ningthou Committee, advisor Syed Siraj Ahmed, AMESCO president, W Chinglemba, PSO president Farid Bogimayum, MMWD president Mehboob Ali Chesabam, UMPO president Adil Yumkhaibam, AMMPACO president, Yk Hayatur Rahman and Haoreibi Mayai Leikai High Madrassa, Headmaster Md Wahaj uddin as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, Alhaj Arshad Baseimayum stated that during the reign of King Khagemba in the year 1606, impressed by the bravery, honour and craftsmanship of the muslims who had arrived to extend support in the war, the muslims of that time and those who were there before were entitled with suitable sumame/title like the "Aribam" and were prevented from returning to their place of origin by the King.
Instead they were given land for settlement and were let to marry with Meitei women, signifying the close bond between the two communities, said Arshad.
Stating that such remembrance day is observed to honour the courage and contribution of the forefathers for the motherland, he said that the generation of today still stands tall for unity and protection of the motherland.
Meipak Ningthou Committee, co-convenor Pukhrimayum Ajijur in his keynote address stated that as per the resolution passed during the seminar organised by the Meipak Ningthou Committee on November 9 (Saturday), 2019, at GM Hall, it was agreed upon to celebrate the 17th day of Inga as "Meitei Pangal Khunthok Ningsing Numit" every year to remember and celebrate the day when Meitei Pangals were accorded with surname/title and place for settlement.
Since that day, the committee has been continuously observing the Meitei Pangal Khuntok Ningsing Numit.
Even though the celebration could not be held grandly due to the unrest in State, he hoped for much grandeur observation in the future.
