Traffic advisory issued for Yaoshang festival

In view of the upcoming Yaoshang festival from March 14 to 18, Traffic Control Police Wing has announced traffic arrangements to ensure safety of motorists, pedestrians, and other road users.
The measures aim to prevent incidents related to drunken driving, over-speeding, reckless driving, not adhering to traffic signals, triple riding, underage driving, and riding without helmets.
The advisory said that to enforce traffic regulations and curb violations, special traffic checking teams will be deployed at major intersections and vulnerable points during the festival.
These teams will focus on detecting and penalising traffic rule violators to minimise accidents and fatalities caused by reckless driving.
As part of the advisory, the public have been urged to strictly adhere to traffic rules and motorists warned against drunken driving, exceeding speed limits, jumping traffic signals, and engaging in street racing or dangerous driving.
Two-wheeler riders and pillion riders must wear helmets and avoid triple riding, while vehicle owners should not allow minors or unauthorised persons to drive.
The use of mobile phones while driving should be avoided to prevent distractions, it specified.
The traffic police have also prohibited performing stunts or reckless manoeuvres on roads and urged drivers to park only in designated areas to prevent co'ngestion and ensure smooth traffic movement.
Additionally, the public have been requested to refrain from splashing colours or water from moving vehicles, as such actions could lead to road mishaps.
The Traffic Control Police Wing called upon all citizens to celebrate the festival responsibly and ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.
