Senapati celebrates International Women's Day

Senapati, March 09 2025:
Joining the global celebration, International Women's Day was commemorated in Senapati district under the joint initiatives of the district administration, ICDS, One Stop Centre, NYKS, and DHEW Senapati.
The event was held under the theme "Accelerate Action" at Apfii Saliki (Ema Market) on March 8 .
As part of the celebration, Senapati deputy commissioner Mamoni Doley inspected a high school students' wall painting competition held near the astro turf football ground under the theme "Empowering India's Daughters.
" She also inaugurated a breastfeeding corner at Apfii Saliki.

In her address, she reiterated the significance of International Women's Day and stressed that societal progress and success require the contributions of all genders.
Regarding the wall painting competition, she urged the town committee to prioritise urban beautification, sanitation, and public hygiene.
She expressed her appreciation for the students' artwork and assured that the.district administration would continue to organise activities aimed at nurturing young talent.
Additionally, she called on the public to uphold the 'Plastic-Free Zone' initiative at Apfii Saliki.
In the painting competition, Mave School secured first place, followed by St Anthony's School in second place and Mt Everest School in third place.
Other speakers who addressed the gathering included RN Hannah, president Senapati District Women Association (SDWA); David Kung, ADM Senapati; S Plim Reikhenamai, AC to DC Senapati; and PP Ronald, project director DRDA Senapati.
They emphasised the necessity of equal educational opportunities for both genders, free from discrimination; merit-based opportunities, asserting that qualifications, rather than gender, should determine access to education and employment; need for female representation in decision-making bodies to ensure societal progress; proper education of the girl child to foster responsible mothers, sisters, and wives; highlighted significance of women's empowerment, gender equality, and women's rights; commended women for their perseverance, patience, and rationality; encouraged young girls to adopt a positive attitude; women occupying key administrative positions in the district, including the DC, GMO, and DPO ICDS cell; and reinforced the message that women are equal to men in contemporary society.
