Prof Chandbabu appointed as DM University VC

Imphal, March 08 2025: Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who is also the chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University, has appointed Prof Chandbabu Singh as the new vice-chancellor of the university.

As per the official order issued by the Governor's Secretariat on Saturday, Prof Chandbabu Singh will serve a term of five years from the date he assumes office or until he reaches the age of 70, whichever comes earlier.

It may be mentioned that student bodies have been demanding the appointment of a regular vice-chancellor for Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) and had staged several agitations over the issue.

The DMU Act was passed in 2017, leading to the establishment of the university in 2018.However, since its inception, the university has had only one regular vice-chancellor, Prof Rajmuhon.

Following his retirement, the position was held by bureaucrat officers from time to time, affecting the implementation of various guidelines and regulations crucial to the university's development.
