Imphal, October 06 2024:
In continuation of the movement to demand justice for mother-daughter duo Bashanti and Lanchenbi, who were found dead in a suspicious manner, a sit-in protest was held at Samurou on Sunday.
According to 'JAC against the unnatural death of Bashanti & Lanchenbi' convenor Oinam Chaoba Leima, the protest was attended by locals of Haoreibi, Samurou, Wangoi, Yumnam Huidrom, Mayang Imphal and Singjamei Bheigyabati Leikai.
It is exactly 14 days that the mother and daughter were found dead in a suspicious manner and their bodies are still at RIMS morgue awaiting the religious rituals.
While questioning why the government is allegedly covering up truth about the duo's unnatural demise, she posed whether justice delayed does not equate to justice denied.
The convenor asserted that the JAC along with the locals and people of Manipur will fight for delivering justice to the victims.
Chaoba said they have been launching peaceful protest in pursuit of the demand to bring out the truth about the mother and daughter and extending full cooperation to the police with hope that the government will unravel the truth.
However, it would be wrong to consider the peaceful protest as public timidity, she cautioned and called upon meira paibi activists, CSOs and organisations campaigning against crime against women and children and human rights to stand against the wrong doers and extend support in launching intense movement.
