DMC Science alumni aids IDP patients' surgery

Imphal, March 05 2025: DM College of Science 1996 (Class XII), 1999 TDC Alumni extended support to two IDP patients from relief camp in different types of surgery this year.

Doctors, who are members of the alumni body, also played major role in facilitating timely conduct of the surgeries.

The alumni body also provided medicines worth Rs 30,000 to an IDP patient, who recently underwent brain surgery.

Since the crisis broke out on May 3, 2023, the alumni body has been providing support in the form of medical camps and facilitating surgeries for patients.

The last surgery was conducted on an 18-year old girl named Wahengbam Sonia Chanu, currently living in a relief camp at Ithai, on March 4 .

It was a major surgery for vascular malformation, a swelling on the neck, which was performed by ENT doctor Saphaba at JNIMS.

On January 20, the body facilitated gall bladder removal surgery of a 65-year old woman Y Rupa Devi of Tbrbung Govindpur, currently living at Kumbi Awang Khunou relief camp.

Besides, the members also provided medicines worth Rs 30,000 to one Khoirom Manjuri currently living at Ithai relief camp, who recently underwent brain surgery.

At the same time, insulin vials along with a refrigerator to keep the drugs, were also provided for diabetic IDPs of Ithai relief camps.

The alumni body had provided spectacles to 53 IDPs in the relief camp through a mega free health camp held recently.
