Road committee alleges Govt, BRTF negligence

The Senapati-Phaibung (SP) road committee has taken a decision to file a case against the government of Manipur and implementing agency (25 BRTF) for total negligence of Senapati-Phaibung road construction which covers 18 villages (128km) and for delaying release of 10 percent of state's share for the past 22 years.
The committee arrived at a unanimous to file case during an emergency meeting held on May 21 at TNK Senapati village after joint inspection of the SP road with the 84 RCC, PWD Senapati in presence of respective village authorities.
The meeting had threadbare discussion about the road left without completion nor renovation of the completed portion, which is in very pathetic condition.
Meanwhile, sources said that the bridge between Ting-song centre and Tingsong Khullen collapsed affecting transportatoion with the condition further worsened due to landslides in different locations and portions of the road washed away by monsoon rain.
Senapati-Phaibung road begins from NH-2 at TNK Senapati village and it is the only road connecting southern Lepaona and Chilivai villages as well as adjoining 18 villages.
The region is one of the most neglected zone of eastern Senapati district, the border of Senapati and Ukhrul districts along the Iril river.
