AR reaches out to flood affected villagers

In response to the recent devastating flood, Assam Rifles mobilised its resources on Monday, to provide crucial assistance to the affected communities.
The relief efforts targeted Khabi village in Imphal West district and included distribution of essential supplies to approximately 250 people.
Vital items such as food grains, fresh vegetables, clean water, mattresses, and other necessities were distributed to alleviate the hardships faced by the displaced households, according to a statement of PRO IGAR (South) .
Assam Rifles also conducted an amphibious medical camp in the flood-affected Nagaram area.
In collaboration with the state administration, the troops navigated the swollen water to offer door-to-door medical services on boat.
This initiative provided essential healthcare to 307 patients, including 52 women and 18 children.
The medical team administered immediate blood sugar tests and a variety of supportive treatments, underscoring Assam Rifles' commitment to community well-being even in the most challenging conditions.
In addition, Assam Rifles organised a medical camp for the flood victims of Laipham Khunou on the same day.
The camp benefited 218 families, with medicines worth approximately Rs 25,000 distributed to the locals.
These initiatives aim to provide relief and protection to those who have lost their homes or suffered significant property damage due to the severe flood, the statement added.
Assam Rifles also repaired the damaged roads and bridge connecting New Keithelmanbi to Waroiching and Irengbam.
Through sheer grit and determination, the team restored 50 metres of road and a crucial bridge, making them fit for traffic once more.
According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (South), the project was executed under the leadership of one officer, two Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and 30 other ranks, with involvement from local community.
Assam Rifles provided essential equipment, including JCBs and other repair tools, to ensure efficient and effective completion of the task.
The restored infrastructure is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and accessibility for local communities, providing a much-needed boost to daily activities and local commerce during these challenging times, the
statement added.
