Van Mahotsav celebrated; plastic bottle tree guard launched

Thoubal/Kakching, July 02 2025: The week-long Van Mahotsav 2025 was celebrated by Thoubal Forest Division on Wednesday with planting of tree saplings along the Yairipok-Kasom Khullen road and launching of plastic bottle tree guard.

Speaking in connection with the programme held under the theme 'Plant Trees, Save Trees, Lend a hand to Make Our Manipur Greener', Thoubal divisional forest officer (DFO) Dr L Jeeceelee informed that the plantation drive 1 km range of the Yairipok-Kasom Khulen road in continuation of the plantation drive undertaken by the Division on Vari Mahotsav, that began on Tuesday under Kakching range.

It is said that the plastic bottle tree guard made of used plastic bottles can also store water for the saplings.

The event was attended by Thoubal range forest officer Dineschandra Salam, Sikhong beat officer H Surendro, Yairipok beat officer Kh Herojit, Mayai Keithel beat officer L Samananda and forest staff.

Meanwhile, in continuation of 76th Van Mahotsav 2025 celebration under Chandel DFO, Chandel Forest Division in collaboration with 8th MR Leikun, Chandel organised a tree sapling plantation drive under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ka Naam 2.0' initiative at 8th MR campus on Wednesday.

Chandel DFO Dr Naorem Munal Meitei and 8th MR Leikun CO Ningthoujam Madhun-imai led the MR officers, personnel, media persons and forest staff members in planting 80 lemon saplings within the campus, as part of their ongoing effort to start a lemon farm at the MR premises.
