Children's theatre workshop underway

Imphal, May 30 2025: The National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, in collaboration with Potshangbam Tomba Legacy Theatre, has launched a monthlong children's theatre workshop for young residents of the relief camps set up at the Old DC Office Complex, Loukoipat, Bishnupur district on May 29.The workshop aims to provide a creative platform for children affected by displacement, helping them explore their artistic talents, develop their personalities, and acquire valuable life skills.

The children will engage in activities designed to build confidence and foster teamwork through interactive sessions and guided performances.

The workshop curriculum covers various aspects of theatre, including acting, dance, music, and stagecraft.

The children will learn to express themselves creatively while improving communication skills and working collaboratively under the guidance of work shop director Mayengbam Sunil Singh and assistant director Hidangmayum Darabari Sharma.

Renowned for its longstanding contribution to Indian theatre, the National School of Drama brings its expertise and resources to this unique setting.

By partnering with Potshangbam Tomba Legacy Theatre, NSD aims to extend its artistic outreach to children living in challenging conditions, offering them an opportunity to heal and grow through the performing arts.

Organisers said that the workshop is designed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children, instilling discipline, confidence, and a spirit of collaboration.

The programme also seeks to promote a sense of community and emotional resilience through art-based education.

The workshop will culminate with a special performance on June 27, where the participating children will showcase their talents.

The closing event will serve not only as a celebration of their progress but also as a platform to showcase the transformative power of theatre in building hope and connection.
