Imphal, June 29 2025:
By urging all MLAs to resign and calling for holding new elections on public domain while the people are demanding for formation of a popular government, Congress has shown its fervent desire for power, Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA) convenor Moirangthem Tombi Singh has stated.
Addressing a press meet at Shiv Sena Manipur office at Babupara on Sunday, Tombi said that the two-year long conflict has caused immense suffering to the people.
On top of this, the imposition of the President s Rule and the occurrence of floods have compounded the people's miseries, consequently prompting the masses to demand formation of a popular government at the earliest, he noted.
However, the statement made by Congress amid the distressful situation besieging the people is irresponsible and showed their fervent desire for power.
The Congress leaders have been making hypocritical statements seemingly to cover up the failure for delivering the promises made to the people by the party in the run-up to the last Lok Sabha elections, Tombi maintained.
He also claimed that the Congress leaders decline to respond to media queries, called such brand of politics highly bizarre.
It is not the time for political parties to throw mud at each other, he said, adding that the focus should be on working together to save Manipur and abstained from making irresponsible remarks.
M Tombi emphasised the need for all parties to work together to preserve the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Manipur.
He stressed that all political processes must respect the aspirations of the people for peaceful coexistence.
When asked about his stance on the imposition of President's Rule, Tombi said his party seeks the early restoration of an elected government to help bring back peace and normalcy in the state.
