Workshop on curriculum formation begins

A five-day workshop aimed at finalising the draft curriculum for foundational stage education and six-month certificate course on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)/preschool education commenced on Monday at the SCERT multipurpose hall in Lamphelpat.
The workshop is being organised by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Manipur in collaboration with Azim Premji University, Bangalore.
Inaugurating the workshop as chief guest, SCERT director Dr A Chinglenkhomba emphasised the importance of finalising a comprehensive curriculum for foundational stage and preschool education.
He said that a well-structured curriculum is crucial for laying a strong educational foundation and ensuring effective early childhood education.
Azim Premji University faculty member L Tirang G Rongsaname highlighted the significance of incorporating local elements in the curriculum to make it more relevant and culturally appropriate for children in the state.
He expressed confidence that the draft curriculum would be finalised promptly, taking into account the diverse needs and perspectives of the state.
The workshop is being participated by District Institute of Education and Training lecturers and experts from various educational institutions.
They would be collectively working towards developing a curriculum that aligns with the National Education Policy and meets the specific needs of early learners in the state.
