Senapati, February 24 2025:
Accusing the Assam Rifles of escorting armed groups in their vehicles at odd hours, Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) demanded clarification from the paramilitary force.
The SDSA also asked the paramilitary forces not to side with any armed groups but work sincerely for expediting peace process in the state at the earliest.
According to president Saloni Tony, SDSA officials came across the Assam Rifles and militants working hand-in-gloves in the district, claiming that in the wee hours of February 22, Assam Rifles escorted armed groups in their vehicles.
Pondering if such act is a threat to peace and tranquillity, Saloni leader questioned as to how the Assam Rifles could escort armed groups in their vehicles at strange hours.
Addressing media persons at its office on Sunday in the presence of executives and functionaries of federating units, the president strongly condemned the unwarranted escort of militants by the Assam Rifles inspite of Senapati being relatively a peaceful district.
He also questioned whether the Assam Rifles wants to create mistrust and confusion among the peace loving citizens of Senapati and other neighbouring communities.
The SDSA leader also questioned the intention of Director General of the Assam Rifles in calling the top Kuki militant leaders for a dialogue in such challenging times in the district.
In light of the unfortunate incident, the district apex student body urged the paramilitary forces not to side with any armed groups and instead expedite peace process in the state at the earliest.
