Bodies demand action against MLA Paolienlal Haokip

Denouncing the statement of Saikot MLA Paolienlal Haokip who said that the six women and kids were killed by Kuki militants as revenge, bodies including Uripok Apunba Lup and Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) demanded legal action against the MLA maintaining that his statement incited violence.
Uripok Apunba Lup lodged a complaint with Imphal police station demanding to take action against MLA Paolienlal Haokip.
Speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing relay hunger strike at Uripok Canteen crossing, Uripok Apunba Lup publicity secretary Chingthang Nambam reminded the statement of Saikot A/C MLA Paolienlal Haokip during his interview at 'The Wire' asserting that killing of six women and kids was a revengeful act amidst the hue and cry of the people because of the killing.
Such irresponsible statement of the MLA has the potential to incite violence, he decried, while adding that the MLA's statement seemingly support the killing of women and children and incite violence.
As such legal action should be taken up against him.
A complaint has been registered against the MLA at Imphal police station, he said.
Uripok Apunba Nupi Lup president Potsangbam ongbi Joyshree said that several complaints have been filed with respective commissions related with women and children demanding justice for the six women and children.
Recalling widespread condemnations for the unfortunate naked parading of two Kuki women, she questioned the silence when women and children including an eight years old month baby were mercilessly killed by Kuki militants after abduction.
Every woman should voice their condemnation, she added.
Similarly, Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) in a release condemned the statement of Saikot MLA Paolienlan Haokip regarding the killing of women and children by Kuki-militants as revengeful act.
It is unfortunate that both state and central governments failed to take up any action against him, the release condemned.
Reminding the demand for disqualification of 10 Chin-Kuki-Zo MLAs by numerous civil society organisations, FOCS denounced inaction on the part of both the state and central governments against those who took key roles in attempting to disintegrate the state and those involved in terrorist acts including killing of defenceless women and children.
The announcement of 11 Kuki terrorists, who were killed by CRPF deployed at Jakuradhor after they attacked a CRPF camp, as heroes vividly by the MLAs reflected that they are against India and worked against Meetei by joining hands with those involved in terrorism, the release continued, while demanding immediate action against the MLAs.
