Imphal, September 23 2024: A woman and her four years' old daughter were found dead on their bed on Monday.

The deceased woman has been identified as Ningombam ningol Adhikarimayum ongbi Basanti (48) w/o (L) Adhikarimayum Thoiba of Haoreibi Mayai Leikai Seram Leirak under Wangoi Police Station, and her daughter as Ningombam Lanjenbi (4) .

According to a police report, as the mother and daughter were not visible for the past few days, some neighbours went to check their house on Monday morning and found the duo dead on their bed.

On receiving news of the discovery, a team of Wangoi police station arrived at the scene and inspected the scene.

A case of Unnatural Death (UD) has been registered and an investigation launched.

A mobile forensic team also arrived at the scene and conducted preliminary investigations.

As bodies of the mother and the daughter had already started decomposing and abdomen swelling, it is believed that they may have died a few days prior.

The corpses neither bore any bruise marks nor injuries.

As such, the cause of death is yet to be determined.

The bodies are presently being kept at RIMS morgue to identify the cause of death with the post mortem scheduled for conduct on Tuesday.
