Meetei, Meitei-Pangal unity stressed

If the existing blood bond between Meeteis and Meitei Pangal could be strengthened, nothing can hamper their endeavour for safeguarding and protecting Manipur, stated Maipak Ningthou Committee convenor Arshad Baseimayum at the 5th Meitei Pangal Khunthok Numit observance organised by Maipak Ningthou Committee and Progressive Youth Community at the Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai office of Islamic Cultural Research Organisation (ICRO) .
The function was attended by AMESCO president Loitongbam Ibotombi, Progressive Youth Community president Y Wajiuddin, Pangal Students' Organisation president Farid Bogimayum, Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation president Baboy Korimayum, and All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs' Organisation president Yk Hayatur Rahaman as presidium members, Arshad further said that the 17th day of Manipuri lunar month Inga has been observed as "Meitei Pangal Khunthok Numit" following a seminar organised by Meipak Ningthou Committee at GM Hall on November 9.He mentioned that Muslims residing in Manipur since Meidingu Khangemba s era in 1606 and earlier were granted permanent settlement by assigning them suitable surnames.
Acknowledging their contributions in diverse fields, they were permitted to settle in Manipur by marrying Meetei women.
A two-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect for those who have lost their lives in the ongoing humanitarian crisis gripping the state.
