Flight cancellation sparks tension at Imphal airport

Imphal, February 22 2025: Tension erupted at Bir Tikendrajit International airport in Imphal on Saturday after the newly introduced Alliance Air cancelled its Imphal-Guwahati flight without prior notice.

The sudden cancellation of the flight scheduled for departure from Imphal at 7 am left many candidates for Central Agricultural University (CAU) examination stranded.

The candidates are to appear in CAU recruitment exam at Guwahati on Sunday and around 10 candidates were among the passengers stranded at the airport.

Frustrated over sudden cancellation of the Alliance Air flight, a stranded candidate told media persons that Alliance Air authority gave no prior information regarding the cancellation and passengers came to learn about it only after reaching the airport.

With both the national highways blocked for us and flight cancelled, we have no option to reach Guwahati, the candidate said adding that the sudden cancellation of the flight caused panic among many candidates.

Alliance Air authority gave no positive response when passengers pleaded for arranging another flight, the candidate added.

Notably, Alliance Air commenced its operation in Imphal route from January 15, 2025 .
