Imphal, July 20 2024:
BJP Khundrakpam Mandal has called for coming together and taking a united stand for protecting the indigenous population and the future generations.
In a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, here, on Friday, Mandal president M Debaratan Meitei said that it is no longer the time for political parties for mudslinging at each other.
Since the government has assured implementation of NRC to identify illegal immigrants, border fencing and withdrawal of SoO to put an end to the conflict, the indigenous communities of the state need to understand who are the "enemies" instead of fighting amongst each other.
We need to take a united stand to protect the indigenous population and the future generation of the state, he asserted.
He further said that conflict has claimed many human lives and destroy the normal life of people.
It is known to all what the cause of the conflict is.
While the Meeteis were united at the beginning of the conflict, we are now turning against each other, which is unfortunate.
Thus, we need to stand united to smoothen out such "misunderstandings" and the CSOs, Meira Paibis and others concerned need to work together in this regard, he stated.
