Order for transliteration of 16 books to MM lauded

Imphal, September 19 2024: Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (MEE-LAL) has lauded the Language Department for issuing order for transliteration of 16 Manipuri books written in Bengali to Meetei Mayek (MM) for the PhD students to ease their research works and teachers of MU Manipuri department for their tireless efforts.

In a release, MEELAL publicity secretary Soibam Arun Meetei reminded that Manipuri students and research scholars highlighted their grievances about the shortage of Manipuri books as most of the books are not transliterated from Bengali to Meetei Mayek.

Subsequently, representatives of MEELAL met with the heads of Manipuri department frequently and even formed translation committee.

As a result, MU Manipuri department with their tireless efforts now made the books available to the students up to master's level with only few reference books left for transliteration, he pointed out.

He further urged to complete the transliteration process for the 16 books and make the same available to the students at the earliest.
