Senapati, February 18 2022: Flag hoisting ceremony of independent candidate for Mao (ST) AC Woba Joram was held on Friday at Paomata centre ground.

Woba Joram's election manifesto includes improvement of basic infrastructures in all villages under the constituency, better roads and good connectivity, affordable, accessible and better health care facilities and improved water and electric supply apart from better governance and transparency, youth and women empowerment, new vision for education and resolving protracted Naga political issue.

Mention may be made here that Woba Joram had fought elections against L Dikho on TMC ticket in 2012 and on BJP ticket in 2017 .

He will fight for the 4th time after failing thrice in the past.

The flag was hoisted by Daili Nikhini Pfoze, convenor, VCM, co-convenor, Election Core Committee, Song Song village president, Northern Mao, as the chief guest.

In their speeches, Poumai Public Union, Kohima former president Z Hriinyi stressed the need for finding a new leadership with the change of time while former BJP Mao Mahila president K Paone lauded the candidate for sacrificing everything for the uplift of the society and asked voters not to sell their votes and instead choose their leaders wisely.

Tasoni Lokho, ex-election agent of the candidate in the previous election, regretted that undemocratic means are being used for the ensuing elections at different places.

RP Dani (ex-ADC member), Chopfokho Ishmeil (former Mao Students' Union president) and MS Marcus (chairman of Tungjoy village) also attended the event.

Speaking as the chief guest, Daili Nikhini Pfoze stated that Song Song and Tunggam villages must unite after some 30 years and urged all to concentrate on how to give more votes to the candidate.

Blessing prayer was led by Rev L Ashuli, Pastor, AM CRC, after the candidate declared that he would serve the public wholeheartedly.

Delegates from different villages of Mao and Poumai, social leaders, ex-ADC members and student leaders under the assembly constituency attended the programme.
