One shot dead, locals torch house of accused

Thoubal, May 15 2024: One Md Najir Hussain (52) s/o late Md Noor Mohammad of Lilong Nungei succumbed to injuries suffered in a firing incident at Lilong Nungei Makha Chongtham Kona on Wednesday.

Irate locals burnt down the house of the accused, who has been arrested by the police.

With multiple pellet wounds on the abdomen area, Najir Hussain was rushed to Noor Hospital and Research Centre but succumbed on the way.

The person accused in the killing has been identified as Md Jabir (38) s/o late Md Siraj Ahamad alias Sanakhamba; of the same locality as the victim.

According to police report, Najir was shot at by Md Jabir with a DBBL around 6:55 pm at Nungei Makha Ningthikhong Bazar.

A case has been registered and the body deposited at JNIMS Mortuary for post mortem examination.

Murder accused Md Jabir has been arrested along with the weapon and taken to Thoubal police station.

It has been reported that Md Jabir is a mentally challenged person with past records of firing shots at his neighbours' houses.
