Jail SP Bhadrika listed for PSM

Eight personnel of Manipur police, two firemen and one from correctional service figured among 1037 medal awardees announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs in connection with the Independence Day-2024.In the list of medal awardees announced Wednesday by the ministry, none from Manipur figured for the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), Medal for Gallantry (GM) and President's Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM).
However, Manipur Central Prison, Imphal and Sajiwa SP Sorokhaibam Bhadrika figured among the list in Prison and Correctional Service category of PSM.
Bhadrika is son of late S Biramani Singh of Uripok Tourangbam Leikai.
Eight Manipur police personnel who figured in the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) category are Ashok Singh Oinam (Havildar), Bonomali Singh Khangenbam (Havildar), Rinkanhao Ruivah (Rifleman), Premjit Singh Potsangbam (Rifleman), Nongthombam Bisheshor Singh (Rifleman), Rojen Singh Mayanglambam (Havildar), Challamba Singh Ngangom (ASI) and Maibam Somorjit Singh (Armed Police SI).
Two state firemen enlisted for Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) are Manipur Fire Service's leading firemen Sevenson Singh Maibam and Panmei Gaikhaongam.
On the other hand, several natives of Manipur serving in different forces figured in the list of medal awardees.
Among them is Ibomcha Sorensangbam, currently assistant central intelligence officer under the Ministry of Home Affairs, for the PSM award.
Three state natives serving in different forces also figured among the MSM awardees.
They are SSB DIG Dr O Baleshor Singh, deputy central intelligence officer in the Ministry of Home Affairs Nongthombam Surchandra and NDRF commandant Bijaykumar Singh Abujam.
