House passes Grants of ₹4287 crore

Imphal, August 12 2024:
On the last day of the sixth session of the 12th Manipur State Legislative Assembly on Monday, the House unanimously passed seven Demands for Grants amounting to Rs 4287,28,67,000 .
The Demands for Grants passed included Demand No 10 - Education (Rs 3151,89,79,000); Demand No 15 - Consumer Affairs.
Food and Public Distribution (Rs 218,26,18,000); Demand No 38 - Panchayat (Rs 117,24,70,000); Demand No 40 - Water Resources Department (Rs 652,70,41,000); Demand No 43 - Horticulture and Soil Conservation (Rs 124,49,57,000); Demand No 46 - Science and Technology (Rs 6,04,52,0Q0); and Demand No 49 - Economics and Statistics amounting to Rs 16.63,50,000.Although opposition MLAs Th Lokeshwor and K Meghachandra had placed cut motions on Education.
Water Resources, and Horticulture & Soil Conservation, the members did not attend the session On Monday after staging walk-out in the last sitting.
As such, the Demands were passed without any discussion.
During the session, Chief Minister N Biren Singh (in-charge of Finance) introduced and presented "The Manipur Appropriation (No 5) Bill, 2024 (Bill No 12 of 2024)" and The Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2024 (Bill No 17 of 2024); while Law minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh moved "The National Law-University, Manipur Bill, 2024 (Bill No 16 of 2024)" which the House passed.
The sixth session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly, which began from July 31 to August 12, was adjourned sine die on Monday.
The nine-day session witnessed nine sittings, 88 Starred Questions out of which 4 questions were withdrawn, 33 Unstarred Questions.
16 Papers laid, 10 Calling Attention, Business Advisory Committee Report presented, Discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor's Address held and adopted nine Government Bills introduced and passed.
A House Committee to inquire into the Influx of illegal immigrants and unnatural growth of villages in the state was also constituted in the session.
