Bajpai reviews status of projects in Chandel

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force (HoFF) & Addl.
chief secretary (TCI and TA & Hills) Anurag Bajpai, accompanied by Addl PCCF Soreiphy Vashum, CCF-II Gaithaolu Thaimei, CF/Eastern Circle Sanajaoba Khuraijam, JS(TCI) H Bobby Sharma; Handlooms & Textiles director Jiten Singh and MD/MANIDCO visited Chandel district for monitoring various important projects on Saturday.
A review meeting was held at Chandel mini secretariat chaired by Anurag Bajpai along with deputy commissioner L Nandakumar Singh.
The meeting was attended by SP Chandel, DFO Chandel, SDMs, General Manager (DIC) and officers from Agriculture, Pisciculture, Skill Development/Labour and Health Departments.
During the meeting, status of construction of Industrial Estate at Chandel and Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) af Berupam and Chakpikarong, implementation of schemes viz.
PM Vishwakarma, PMEGP & PMFME and convergence of forestry programmes with MGNREGA was discussed.
The delay in construction of EMRS and Industrial Estate was envisaged by the chair.
During the meeting, Bajpai requested the DC to review implementation of PM Vishwakarma, PMEGP and PMFME Schemes with GM (DIC), Project Manager (Handloom & Textiles) and banks on regular basis and also to facilitate connection of water, electricity to Industrial Estate.
SP Chandel was urged to arrange for security at Industrial Estate for creating enabling atmosphere.
DFO Chandel was directed to take up plantation activities at the site suggested by DC.
Thereafter, Bajpai distributed livelihood improve-ment/generation items to 72 selected beneficiaries from 10 JFMCs under Green India Mission (GIM) implemented by DFO/Chandel in a function held at the Multipurpose Hall, DC-Complex, Chandel.
Altogether 21 sewing machines and 51 bee rearing boxes were distributed to the beneficiaries for their livelihood generation.
Additionally, the team led by Anurag Bajpai conducted an inspection of the under-construction Eklavya Model Residential School located at Berupam, approximately 20 km from Chandel Town and also inspected the main building, hostels, auditorium, staff quarters etc.
and checked their quality.
The absence of concerned engineers on the spot was viewed very seriously by the ACS.
The staffers also pointed out the urgent requirement of a retaining wall at valley side to prevent land slide.
Later, Bajpai along with Handlooms & Textiles director and Cluster Development Executives visited Handloom Cluster at Chandel and held interaction with the village chief and weavers.
The team also inspected the office of General Manager (DIC) Chandel and interacted with staff.
Further, the team monitored the under construction Industrial Estate at Chandel and discussed the entire layout plan and management during which the lack of drainage system and ETP was noted in the layout plan and construction.
MD MANIDCO and the concerned Executive Engineer were directed to take immediate measures.
Bajpai further held a review meeting with the forest officials at the Divisional Forest Office, Chandel to discuss various ongoing forestry projects and future plans of the Chandel Forest Division.
The team also visited a large permanent Forest Nursery at Komlathabi, Chandel on the way back to Imphal.
