UG cadres netted, arms recovered

Imphal, April 11 2025: Joint teams of police and central security forces arrested three individuals linked to various proscribed outfits and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during separate operations conducted on Thursday.

According to a police control room statement, Moirangmayum Sapana Devi alias Naocha (43) of Lilong Chajing Mairenkhong Leikai was arrested from Lilong Bazar in Thoubal district on the charge of assisting the proscribed PREPAK (Pro) in extortion activities.

Police seized a mobile phone and an Aadhaar card from her possession.

In another operation, an active member of RPF/PLA, identified as Mutum Kamei Badal (40) of Uchathol in Jiribam district, was arrested from Ngariyan-Yairipok Road near Chingyang Lairepibi Ima-Keithel under Andro police station.

He was reportedly involved in extortion and transportation of arms and ammunition.

A mobile phone was recovered from him.

Police also arrested an active member of KCP (PWG), identified as Md Israk Khan alias Popo (21) of Kairang Chingya Awang Leikai from Kairang village under Heingang PS.

A mobile phone was seized from his possession.

Security forces also recovered weapons during operations in Churachandpur and Imphal East.

A .22 rifle, a single barrel gun, and two Pompi were recovered from Siden Bowel area under Churachandpur PS.

In a separate operation at Pukhao Ahallup section of Iril river bank under Sagolmang PS, a 9mm SMG with magazines, a double barrel gun, a .32 pistol with live rounds, grenades, detonators, explosives, magazines, live ammunition, a radio set, vehicular microphone, empty cases, patka helmets and bulletproof jackets were recovered.
