KVK, CCpur observes Van Mahotsav

The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Churachandpur, observed Van Mahotsav 2025 with a tree plantation drive under the theme "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0", aimed at promoting environmental conservation.
Led by senior scientist-cum-head Dr Manoj Kumar Pandey, and supported by SMS (Agroforestry) Hmannihring Anal, and senior technical officer Manngaihkim, the event held in collaboration with the STC BSF, Churachandpur saw plantation of over 100 saplings across the STC and KVK campuses on Wednesday.
The event was attended by STC/BSF Churachandpur inspector general Indra Deo Singh, 10 BSF officers and recruits, and officials from the District Agriculture Office, including Sutthianlal, district sub-divisional agriculture officer, and Paukhenlal Guite, extension officer.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pandey stressed the importance of context-specific tree planting - choosing native species, ensuring compatibility with local soil and climate, and maintaining care for two to three years to ensure the trees' survival and growth while Indra Deo Singh noted that the event symbolised a collective commitment to protecting the Earth and providing future generations with a greener world.
The initiative received both logistical and moral support from Dr Ch Basudha Devi, head of the Regional Centre, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Imphal, according to a KVK, Churachandpur press release.
