Drive against single use plastic from Apr 15: DC

Thoubal, April 09 2025: Thoubal deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subhash has announced that more stringent enforcement drive against banned single use plastic will be launched in the district from April 15 .

Speaking at the consultative workshop on 'Ban on Single Use Plastic' organised by the district administration at Thoubal DC conference hall on Wednesday, Subhash informed that to enforce the ban on single use plastic, 20 inspection teams consisting of 20 members each has been formed along with district task force to monitor them.

As part of the enforcement drive, reports will be sought from heads of offices and educational institutions on making their respective offices and institutions plastic free zone, he added.

Subhash also cautioned wholesalers and retailers of single use plastic to comply with the directive failing which action will be initiated as per the law.

He also appealed to the public to extend support to the district administration on the issue.

Environment and climate change director T Brajakumar also spoke during the workshop, which was attended by Manipur Pollution Control Board officials and district level officers.
