Thoubal marathon promotes drug-free society

Thoubal, March 09 2025:
As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, a marathon was jointly organised by Thoubal district administration and District Social Welfare office, Thoubal, on Sunday.
The marathon organised under the theme "Marathon Run towards a Drug Free Future" and participated by around 200 boys and girls, was flagged off by Thoubal DC Ahanthem Subash from the DC office gate and concluded at Khongjom War Memorial Complex, covering a distance of 14 km.

Among others, Thoubal SP Shivanand and Lilong AASDO Arvind Hanglem also participating.
In the girls' category, Tayenjam Russia of Ngairangbam, and Thounaojam Maria and Nevia Laishram both of Haoreibi Mayai Leikai, secured the first, second and third position respectively while Konthoujam Somorjit of Yairipok Yambem won the boys' category followed by Kh Zabeb Hussain of Lilong Ubak Khongjang Makha and Mutum Mukta of Laiphrakpam Awang Leikai in second and third position respectively.
The top three winners in both the categories were presented cash prize of Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 1000 respectively along with certificates during a function held at Khongjom War Memorial complex.
Additionally, five participants in each group were awarded consolation prizes.
