Ukhrul, March 04 2025:
Of late, Ukhrul town has been plagued by frequent power outages, with daily cuts attributed to technical failures and un-notified load-shedding.
On Tuesday, residents woke up to a complete power cut, forcing many to seek alternative means of electricity.
A source from the MSPDCL Ukhrul Division informed that technical issues cropped up at both the Hunphun feeder and the Mini-secretariat feeder, resulting in a breakdown of power supply across the district headquarters.
Moreover, strong winds have hindered efforts to restore service, the source said, expressing helplessness.
A restoration team from MSPDCL was pressed into action throughout the day on Tuesday, making efforts to bring power back to the affected town areas.
However, the team encountered difficulties when attempting to fix a fault line in the 11KV line of the Mini-secretariat feeder, which remained unresolved by late evening, the source said.
Meanwhile, town residents have expressed their frustration over the persistent power interruptions and un-notified load shedding, especially in view of the severe hardships endured by students appearing in the HSLC examinations.
They also sought the attention of the higher authorities to the chronic power crisis in the township, which is often attributed to technical issues stemming from outdated power infrastructure that is vulnerable to even minor weather events and urged for a permanent solution to the problem.
