Security forces nab five with cough syrup, brown sugar

Imphal, May 02 2022: In all five persons have been arrested by police and central forces and drug consignments recovered from them from different parts of the state.

In the first case, a team of Lilong Police arrested one Buyamayum Hefazuddin (25) s/o Md Jiyauddin of Hiyangthang Palak on Monday seized around 360 bottles of Anrex-SP banned cough syrup from his possession.

According to a police report, the team was conducting a frisking and checking operation around 11.30 am Monday, when they halted a Baleno Nexa (AS01 DW 9131) and found the banned cough syrup bottles inside.

A mobile phone, an Aadhaar card and Rs 1070 in cash were also recovered from Hefazuddin's possession.

Lilong PS has registered an FIR under ND&PS Act in this regard and further investigation is underway.

On the other hand, another report conveyed that a combined team of Thoubal district police Commando and 16 Assam Rifles arrested a man with 236 gm of brown sugar.

The arrested person has been identified as Atom Boboy (37) s/o Manglem of Pallel Bazar.

The team recovered the brown sugar consignment, packed in 20 soap cases from his possession.

The police report further said that the combined team was conducting frisking and checking operation at Pallel Leimajing area on April 30 around 6.30 pm, when they halted a Honda Activa (MN 04 D-3537) .

On checking, the team found 236 gm of brown sugar packed inside 20 soap cases.

Both the arrested man and the drugs have been handed over to Kakching PS for further legal action.

According to PRO IGAR (S), the recovered brown sugar is worth Rs 95 lakh.

Meanwhile, a team of Bishnupur District Police Commando arrested 3 people with 1.08 kg of brown sugar on Sunday around 9 am.

The three arrested people have been identified as Wairokpam Roby (45) s/o (L) Mani of Phoijing Chingning, Meitram Ranjit (28) s/o Mohon of Ikou Awang Leikai and Sapam Rajkumar (29) s/o (L) Somendro of Phoijing Chingning.

As per police reports, acting on reliable information, the team arrested the three people from Phoijing Chingning Mamang Leikai near WDC Phoijing Chingning Ward no 17 .

Around 1.08 kg of brown sugar was recovered from their possession.

Both the arrested people and the drugs have been handed over to Nambol PS for further course of legal action, it added.
