No trespassing in Langol Reserved Forest: DFO

Imphal, July 31 2025:
Forest Department has restricted unauthorised trespassing in the form of camping and expedition in Langol Reserved Forest in general and Punshilok area in particular.
An order issued by Central Forest Division's divisional forest officer (DFO) Vikram Suresh Nadhe stated that reports of illegal trespass in the form of camping and expedition is increasing in Langol Reserved Forest and Punshilok.
He reasoned that such activities are disturbing the ecological balance, endangering wildlife, and violating the provisions of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 and relevant rules.
As Section 26 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 prohibits trespassing in reserved forest areas the public should not carry out any activities such as camping, expedi tion, trekking, etc.
inside the Langol Reserved Forest and Punshilok with immediate effect, and until further orders, specified the order issued on July 29, 2025.The order also instructed range officers and staff to carry out patrolling on regular basis and keep strict vigil against all acts of illegal trespass and take appropriate action according to Indian Forest Act, 1927 and Manipur Forest Rules, 2021.All individuals/organisations are restrained from indulging in any of the aforementioned activities without permission from the competent authorities.
In the event of detection of such activities in any reserved forests, then the offender(s) are punishable with imprisonment for six months or fine and imprisonment under the Indian Forest Act, 1927, cautioned the DFO .
