Poster competition on 'plastic menace' held

In commemoration of World Environment Day 2025, Khongnangthaba University hosted a poster competition on the theme "Ending Plastic Pollution Globally".
Organised by the university's Eco-Chapter, the event brought together undergraduate and postgraduate students who expressed their environmental concerns and creative flair through a series of original and impactful poster presentations.
The event, held at the university's Multi-Media Centre, commenced with a welcome address by deputy director (research) Dr K Kunjabali Singh, followed by registrar Dr Atom Sunil Singh highlighting the vital role academic institutions play in promoting environmental consciousness and embedding sustainable practices within educational ecosystems.
Presiding over the function, Dr A Guneshwar Sharma underscored the importance of youth leadership in tackling environmental challenges.
He noted that the fight against plastic pollution is not only of global significance but also deeply relevant at the local level, particularly in ecologically sensitive regions such as Manipur.
The even concluded with a prize distribution ceremony.
Dr Guneshwar presented the awards in memory of his late parents.
The first, second, and third prize of Rs 500, Rs 300, and Rs 200 respectively were given to winners.
A vote of thanks was delivered by assistant professor Dr Huidrom Renuka.
